Mermaid of Mersea launch May 2012

‘Mermaid’ moored near

Dabchicks Sailing Club

17th October 2012

St Edmund King and Martyr.  An ancient parish church of England believed to date back from the 12th Century. With its close proximity to the sea and exposure to the elements, the church needs regular attention to its structure  and fabric. The Flower Festival  is one various of events held to attract funding for the ongoing  repairs.

Arrangements at this year’s festival included Dame Ellen MaCarthur, Barbara Cartland, Mrs Thatcher, Women’s Land Army, Dame Margot Fonteyn and Virginia Wade. All 18 arrangements were assembled by the Church flower arrangers and their friends
